Our Philosophy
At Jimboomba Community Kindergarten we enrich childhoods as we support children's learning through play. Relationships are prioritised in our centre, as we strive to develop warm, respectful and trusting relationships with children and families. A sense of belonging ensures children feel safe and secure to engage with all of the fun and learning at kindy. We connect with and learn about children as individuals, so to support and extend their development of a range of skills and dispositions for lifelong learning. These include motor skills, social emotional skills, thinking and problem solving skills, literacy and numeracy foundations, and oral language. We support their learning to be a part of a group, whilst also their growth as an individual.
Children's autonomy is valued as their ideas, culture, and interests form our program. Educators use intentional teaching whilst children are motivated through play to extend their learning and work towards their goals.
We recognise that parents and families are their child's first and most influential teachers. Educators listen to and provide support for parents in their parenting role, as we work together to benefit children. Collaboration is key as staff and committee strive to engage in reflective practice, continuously improve and support professional development.
Educators connect with and build relationships with our community to holistically support children's transitions, development and wellbeing.
We acknowledge and respect the traditional owners of our kindy land, the Yugambeh people. Our natural environment allows for learning about our flora and fauna, risk taking, challenging motor skills and exlporation. We strive to embed sustainable practice in our teaching and everyday practice.
